Moderne Glass Company, the promo supplier based in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have issued a recall for ceramic coffee mugs due to a potential burn hazard.
The 15 oz. C-handle mugs can crack or break when hot liquid is added. Moderne Glass received six reports of mugs cracking, though no injuries have been reported.
The mugs were sold between February 2021 and February 2022 and decorated with company logos for promotional customers. The mugs are black and white with the model “71500-White” printed on the bottom.
The recall affects about 2,500 units, and Moderne Glass says it has destroyed all unsold inventory of the mugs.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled coffee cups and contact Moderne Glass Company to receive a full refund,” the CPSC said in the recall notice. “Moderne Glass Company is contacting all known purchasers directly.”
The voluntary recall was conducted as part of the CPSC’s Fast Track Recall process. This process allows companies to initiate recalls and work with the CPSC to quickly address and remedy the situation.
